Local shopping centers include Peachtree Mall and Columbus Park Crossing. Just outside Fort Benning is the National Infantry Museum which honors service of infantry forces of the US Army and includes an IMAX theater. Just outside the area is Phenix City, AL which was voted as the #1 best affordable suburb to raise a family in 2007. Opelika is also nearby and is very successful in attracting businesses to the area including Gambro, Daewon, and Pharmavite.
